Lumières d’Europe is partnering with the Neojiba orchestra, founded by Brazilian pianist Ricardo Castro in the state of Salvador de Bahia. Neojiba is an educational project bringing together thousands of children and young people, with the best among them touring some of the most prestigious concert halls worldwide.
An oasis of excellence and joy in the midst of adversity, Neojiba reflects the same passion that drives us. Building a bridge between continents and cultures, young laureates of Lumières d’Europe will join forces with Neojiba’s youth for an annual 10-day session. During this time, they will teach instrument lessons, play in the orchestra, and perform in concerts. In return, they will experience the unparalleled energy radiating from Parque do Quemaido—the love of music that transforms the lives of thousands of young people it rescues.
The young musicians from Lumières d’Europe will receive the most profound lesson imaginable: the privilege of giving.
