Theme: “Resistance and Freedom”
The 2025 session of Lumières d’Europe will take place for the second time at the renowned George Enescu Festival in Bucharest, Romania, from the 1st to the 10th of September. This event will bring together 4 guest artists, one composer in residence, scientists and 15 young talents from across Europe to explore the powerful theme of “Resistance and Freedom”, through music and interdisciplinary dialogue.
This session of Lumières d’Europe is held under the High Patronage of Unesco

Conference: “Creation and Freedom”
Paul Audi will explore the intricate relationship between those two concepts and offering deep insights into how these concepts intertwine in both the artistic and intellectual realms. See biography
César Viana will lead a lecture exploring the theme “Resistance and Freedom” through the lens of his experience as a composer and thinker. His conference will delve into the ways artistic creation embodies acts of resistance and asserts freedom, offering a profound perspective on the connections between music, society, and individual expression. Nicolas Tenzer will explore the theme of the session “Resistance and Freedom” by connecting it to contemporary geopolitical and strategic challenges, offering insights into its implications in today’s world. See biography
Guest artists will lead young talents in performing works by composers who were guided by ideals of resistance and freedom:
We have commissioned an original creation from the composer-in-residence of this session César Viana.
